Our Riplets program is designed as a learn-to-swim program for children 2-7 years old. Some age exceptions apply.
Water experience is not necessary. Participants will be placed into groups based on their water experience and ability, not age. Instructor to child ratio is 1:3.
Swimmer evaluations and assignments will be done on Sunday, June 14, 2026 by a Riplets coach prior to the start of instruction.
The schedule of sessions is located at: https://regencyriptides.swimtopia.com/riplets
On Friday, July 10, 2026, swimmers will participate in a fun, Riplets only “mock meet” to experience (on a smaller scale) what it will be like swimming in a meet with the Riptides.
*Parents, you are responsible for your child at all times in the pool. There are no lifeguards on duty at the Danbury pool, so please always be aware of where your child is on deck as well as in the pool during their lesson. Please remind your swimmer(s) that when the coaches are working with the other children during their lesson, they are to sit on the side of the pool and wait for the coach's instructions.
Each family must have an unguarded hours waiver on file. If you do not have a current waiver on file, please use this link and follow the instructions provided.
** Levels described below may be combined (1/2 or 2/3), depending on the number of participants and their abilities at the start of the program.**
LEVEL 1
Best suited for those children who are new to swimming or not comfortable in the water without assistance. Participants will learn water safety as well as basic water skills. Skills at this level include blowing bubbles, submerging face, front and back floating with assistance.
LEVEL 2
Swimmers should have already learned the basic water skills and are more comfortable in the water without a lot of assistance. We will continue with kicking on front and back with assistance and introduce streamline kicking and scooping arms.
LEVEL 3
For the more independent swimmer. We will introduce combined leg and arm action on front and back, jumping in and swimming 15 yards. Participants at this level who can swim unassisted may have the option to participate in our last swim meet of the season~ at the coach's discretion.
Hey everyone! My name is Brayden Devine and I am stoked to be coming back again as the Head Coach for Riptides! I graduated from ECU with a BS in Physical Education and am wrapping up my second year as an Elementary School PE Teacher in Raleigh! I have an extensive amount of coaching experience with numerous coaching positions held. My past experiences have included head coaching a year-round swim team, assistant coaching multiple year-round swim teams, and head and assistant coaching Riptides and Riplets. I have worked with kids ranging in age from 2-18 as well as adults and am excited for another great season this summer! If interested in private lessons please reach out via email or cell.
Hi, I’m Lauren! I’m a student at Athens Drive Magnet High School in the Health Science Academy. I’m a year-round rower with Triangle Rowing Club and have been part of Regency Riptides since I was four years old. I started coaching Riptides four years ago and am excited to return to the Riplets for my second year. I’m certified in American Red Cross CPR and Stop-the-Bleed, and I love helping swimmers grow in and out of the water.
Hi, my name is Kaitlin! I’m a rising junior at Cardinal Gibbons High School. I’ve been a part of the Regency Riptides swim team since I was 4 years old. I also swim for Gibbons, and my favorite stroke is breaststroke. Outside of swimming, I love going on walks, listening to music, and hanging out with my friends. My goal this season is to help everyone feel confident in the water and to have a great season. This will be my third year coaching, and I’m so excited to see everyone!
