Good afternoon, Riptides!

This email provides details regarding our upcoming final meet on Tuesday, July 16, 2023, versus the Wellsley Wave at Wellsley.

TIMELINE

Athletes and volunteers must arrive by 5:00pm. Warmups begin promptly at 5:30 pm through 5:55pm. The Officiating/ Volunteer meeting will be @ 5:45pm. The meet will start promptly at 6:00pm.

VOLUNTEERING

Our volunteer coordinator, Beth Ward, sent out an email today, Sunday, July 16th with volunteer assignments based upon your preferences. Beth has taken into consideration the needs of the team as well as your family dynamics when putting together our volunteer team. She has given thought to the ages of your children, your preferences for volunteer jobs, etc. However, please note, at the end of the day, we need all positions filled in order for us to have a swim meet and for your swimmer to have an awesome swim experience this summer!

If your volunteer position for this meet is a timer, clerk of course or place judge, meet second shift volunteers at the volunteer sign in table immediately after backstroke and prior to the start of breaststroke to hand off timers and switch shift volunteers.

ATHLETES 11 AND UP - VERY IMPORTANT 

Please note: If you have a swimmer that is 11 years old and up, your swimmer will be required to report to the clerk of course when it is their turn to line-up to swim. There will be no kid pushers for ages 11 and up. This will require you and your swimmer to be paying attention to the meet as it progresses and to know when it is time to go. We will not be able to make accommodations to allow them to swim if they miss their event. FOOD/CONCESSIONS

Pizza, chicken tenders and subs from Publix along with candy and various drinks will be available for purchase.  Cash and VENMO will be accepted.

LOCATION 

The Wellsley Wave's pool is located at 100 Widdington Ln. Cary, NC 27519. You will enter the neighborhood off of High House Rd and the pool entrance will be on your immediate left.  There is a parking lot outside of the pool, however, it is small.  The parking lot is reserved for our team, so please look for a spot.  If there are none left, leave the parking area by making a left on Widdington and finding a place on the street.  There are no parking restrictions, but Wellsley is asking that the parking be kept to one side of the street.

LOCATION OF REGENCY RIPTIDES ON POOL DECK

Our team will be set up on the right side of the pool immediately upon entering the pool deck.  There will be a handful of tables and chairs for the team.  Chairs brought by our team must be set up behind the tables as to leave as much of the pool deck clear as possible.

PARENTS/COACHES RELAY

Wellsley would like to have a parent/coach relay at the meet.  Please email me at [email protected] if you are interested in participating in the parent/coach’s relay. The relay will take place once breaststroke is completed.

2024 REGENCY RIPTIDES - PLEASE NOTE

We are still looking for several volunteers to fulfill open positions for our 2024 Riptides swim team. Now would be a great time to train with our current board members, in order to ensure that we have the positions filled and that we will be able to have a swim team next year. The open positions are as follows: merchandise coordinator, sponsorship coordinator, registration coordinator, volunteer coordinator and special events coordinator.
