RIPTIDES LEADERSHIP
You may contact any one of us with questions or concerns.
Laura Haltom, Chair: [email protected]
Colleen Brenegan, Volunteer Coordinator: [email protected]
Vanessa Trout, Registration Chairperson: [email protected]
Wendy Monroe, Treasurer: [email protected]
REFUND POLICY
Within the first week of practice, you may withdraw your child for any reason and have 100% of the registration fee returned to you. During week two of practice, withdrawal from the team will result in a return of 75% of the registration fee. Payment for swimsuits and spirit wear are nonrefundable.
To withdraw your swimmer from the team, please contact one of the following: Vanessa Trout [email protected] or Wendy Stanley ([email protected]).
All swimmers will be evaluated by the coaches during the first week of practice. Your child may be asked by the coaches to do Riplets if they are not able to swim 15 yards unassisted or if the coaches feel your child may benefit from the Riplet learn to swim program.
WEATHER POLICY
You will see this information more than once over the coming weeks. Weather plays a big role in our swimming plans. We have three reasons to delay or cancel a practice or meet.
1. LIGHTNING Deck is cleared. Everyone must return to their cars or home for 30 minutes from each instance of lightning.
2. THUNDER You may stay on deck, but the pool closes for 30 minutes from each clap of thunder.
3. HEAVY RAIN If the lifeguards cannot see the bottom of the pool due to heavy rain, they will close the pool until conditions improve.
FIRST JUNE EVENT: MARK YOUR CALENDAR!
Saturday, June 5th Parent Meeting & First Saturday Practice
Please join us for the first of our Saturday practices and our ONLY parent meeting. The swim team board and committee chairs will share our vision for the season and discuss the vital role of our wonderful parent volunteers.
7 & up 9- 10 AM
Parent Meeting 9:30 AM
6 & under 10- 10:30 AM
VOLUNTEERS
Everyone was required to sign up for 5 volunteer spots during registration. We still do not know how the meets will be handled. TSA has told us that we are to give the other team a one week notice of virtual or in person. If we have virtual away meets (at Cambridge Pool), our volunteer positions are not currently all covered. We will need at least 8 more people to help at each meet if this happens. ๐
FINALLY, HELP NEEDED!! We need the following positions covered to have our swim season:
Concessions-Prepare, stock and manage concessions for time trials and three home meets. Wicked Links will be here for 6/29 and 7/20 home meets. Arrangement for pizza/chick-filet for other home meet and potential virtual away meets done at home. Our concessions director purchases drinks/water/candy/snacks from Costco or BJs and sells them at our meets. (I did this in 2019 and I enjoyed it!)
Announcer- Communicates to meet attendees over the PA system. You will welcome the visiting team, announce meet officials, call events, direct swimmers to the Clerk of Course, and announce team scores throughout the evening.
Starter- The Starter works closely with the Announcer, COC and timer manager. The Starter has control of the starting device button. You will direct each heat of swimmers onto the starting blocks and deliver commands.
Please contact Colleen Brenegan if you can help your team: [email protected].
We are all looking forward to another fantastic summer of swimming! GO RIPTIDES!
